Gape Varietes from Mallorca

Escursac

Native variety of Mallorca. Of unknown origin and existing since ancient times. According to the latest DNA study, its crossing with the Mancés de Capdell variety would have originated the Fogoneu variety, although these studies must be taken with caution.
Medium cluster and medium grape size. Very thin skin. Compact cluster. Average production. Normal management in the vineyard. Sensitive to powdery mildew.
Average sugar production, reaching 13 degrees of potential alcohol or more in hot years. Very colored skin. There were very few vines of this variety a few years ago but now there are more and new vineyards are being planted.

Aromas of black plum, ripe cherry, dairy (yogurt, mocha), balsamic, jam, spices.

Wines made with 100% Escursac were previously very rare. Now little by little they are making more.
